Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Overview

The TSI program is designed to determine whether students are ready for college-level coursework in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. Incoming college students in Texas are required to take the TSI assessment -unless they are exempt- to determine their readiness for college-level work. Based on students' performance on the TSIA, they may either be enrolled in a college-level course and/or be placed in an appropriate developmental course or intervention to improve their skills and prepare them for success in college-level courses.

This 3 hour professional development session is designed to support teachers’, counselors’, and administrators' understanding of the TSIA, blueprint, alignment, gap analysis, and development of an action plan designed to support increased student performance on the TSIA.  We will talk specifically about how Texas Tech University utilizes the TSI scores and ways we can partner with area school districts to increase the number of graduating seniors who are TSI-compliant and college-ready.
