Shift Your Thinking: Unpack the New Science TEKS
After school learning event with McGraw Hill

It's time to shift our thinking as we embrace the new science standards implemented in the 2024-25 school year. Collaborate across grade levels and use evidence-based practices with concrete examples to maintain rigor in teaching and learning. Shift control to students as the practitioners of science, which will help all students develop into expert learners capable of acquiring information and making meaning.

Important Session Information:

Get ready to spark curiosity, ignite your passion for teaching science, and inspire your students to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers. Join us for an unforgettable session where you'll learn about the NEW science TEKS and experience firsthand the excitement and wonder that science can bring to your classroom.

In this session, we will unravel the mysteries of the new Science TEKS by focusing on three core areas: phenomena, science and engineering practices ( SEP’s) , and recurring themes and concepts ( RTC’s).

  • We'll explore real-world phenomena that captivate your students' imaginations and inspire them to question, think critically, and become true scientific investigators.
  • As we delve into the science and engineering practices, you'll discover how to create a classroom environment that fosters curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • We will explore the recurring themes and concepts that form the foundation of the new TEKS. You'll gain a deeper understanding of how these concepts connect across different scientific disciplines and grade levels, enabling you to create meaningful learning experiences that reinforce important ideas and promote cross-disciplinary thinking.

You will walk away with a comprehensive crosswalk and blueprint to serve as your roadmap for successfully implementing the new TEKS. These invaluable resources will provide a clear framework and practical guidance to align your curriculum, design engaging lessons, and effectively assess student progress.
