School Finance Symposium.

As you close out the 2023-24 school year and prepare for 2024-25, ESC 17 once again is bringing you the School Finance Symposium.

Omar Garcia, with BOK, Inc., will once again be presenting his latest template. He will highlight the impact of funding issues and how to get accurate results based on your district data for 2023-24 and estimates for 2024-25. The template is used by most districts to get accurate state funding calculations as well as get information required to be included in the published Notice required by Truth in Taxation requirements for school districts.

The firm of Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins, and Mott, LLP, will be doing a presentation on the State Property Value Study (PVS).They will explain the purpose of the PVS and explain the importance of valid versus invalid values and how districts may appeal the findings. The PVS is used by the state in determining the local share districts must pay in the state funding calculations. This presentation will help you understand how the PVS impacts your district.

The Symposium will include reminders from ESC 17 regarding the Truth in Taxation process. We will also include other significant topics as deemed appropriate for current events at the time of the Symposium.

This will be a great opportunity to hear speakers known across the state without having to travel a great distance or incur significant travel expenses. The event will include a catered lunch.
