A Guided Tour of the Texas Model Guide

In years past, many school counselors were guided by their administrations as to what their duties were.  Thankfully, the duties of a school counselor have since been defined by statute and by the Fifth Edition of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs.  The first Model for school counseling was developed in 1991.  In 2018, the Fifth Edition of the Model Guide was published.  It outlines the elements of a high quality, comprehensive school counseling program and guides counselors in setting up such a program in their schools.  In this session, we will unpack the Model Guide and its companion, the TEMPSC, to help you maximize your impact as a school counselor.
