GEAR (Getting Excited About Robotics) Coach Training



GEAR provides an exciting hands-on LEGO robotics challenge to elementary and middle school students at no participation fee. The goal is to increase interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs  while offering mentoring opportunities to engineering undergraduate students at Texas Tech University. This training will provide an overview of the GEAR program including: logistics of setting up an afterschool robotics program, team selection and recruitment, competition format, introduction to programming robotics kits. An emphasis on teacher collaboration and individual learning stations will be used. 

Intended Audience : Elementary and Middle School robotics coaches and those interested in becoming one

Items to Bring:

- Laptop/Chromebook

- Current campus LEGO robotics kit (EV3, Spike Prime)and parts (if your campus has a box of any spare parts, please bring them)
