Biology Standards & Strategies Series
Series 1

This ongoing series provides support to Biology teachers in unpacking the TEKS, analyzing assessment items and engaging in classroom activities that will increase student understanding of the more challenging Student Expectations. Each series workshop will align with content from the TEKS Resource System YAG. Participants will also engage in study of the new TEKS (implemented in the 2024-25 school year) aligned with the current series content and the new Scientific and Engineering Practices and Recurring Themes and Concepts TEKS.

Important Session Information:

Teachers will learn and engage in new activities and strategies to tackle the Readiness Standards (4.B, 4.C and 9.A) as well as two Supporting Standards (9.B and 9.C) for the 1st Six Weeks of the school year.  Using the Micro to Macro YAG from TEKS Resources, we will focus on the topics of biomolecules, enzymes, viruses, cellular process (homeostasis & molecular transport), and energy conversions (photosynthesis & cellular respiration).  Teachers will leave with both digital and print copies to be used in the classroom.  Come join us before kickstarting your new school year!
