Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) for Math
Denver City ISD



TEA developed a set of Research-Based Instructional Strategies for Math and RLA.

What are the RBIS?

Research-based instructional strategies are 3-5 instructional strategies in each content
area that represent the most significant changes needed to bridge the gap between
research and practice.

The Math RBIS Include:

  • Balance Conceptual and Procedural
  • Depth of Key Concepts
  • Coherence of Key Concepts
  • Productive Struggle

Who should attend the RBIS for Math Training?

  • District and campus leaders seeking to strengthen mathematics instruction in their school(s)
  • District and campus leaders who are implementing High Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) in the area of mathematics
