Transitioning to the New Science TEKS

New K-12 Science TEKS will be implemented in 2024-25. It's time to start learning the language of the new TEKS: SEPs, RTCs and content shifts, additions and deletions.

Important Session Information:

Examine the background, rationale, and content of the new 2024-2025 science TEKS to prepare for implementation of high-quality science instruction. Explore the changes to the TEKS and unpack the implications for transitioning and planning classroom instruction to improve student learning outcomes.

We will also explore the eight essential practices of the Scientific and Engineering Practices (SEPs) used by scientists to investigate phenomena and by engineers to design solutions, discover how these practices are embedded in the newly-adopted science TEKS, compare scientific investigations with the engineering design process, and share ideas for implementation.
