Denver City PD: Writing in the Content Areas
How to Read With Intentionality and Write About What We Learn

Working the Writing Process into all Content Areas.

Important Session Information:

The writing process involves more than simply writing.  It encompasses more than an expository essay.  The writing process involves the taking in of information, the processing of that information, the questioning and discussion of that information, making connections from that information to prior knowledge, and truly understanding that information.  That is when a student can coherently write about a topic, an idea, or a message.

In this workshop teachers will be taken through the practice of reading, discussing, understanding, and writing in different ways.  We will develop non-negotiables of writing that span across content areas.  And we will identify the role of teachers in the writing process so that students can use this to master the content information and skills.
