Response to Intervention, or RTI, is an instructional framework designed to prevent learning difficulties and ensure all students become successful readers and writers. Unfortunately, many districts and schools have put an RTI framework in place without changing the substance of their assessments, data use, or instruction. Often, invalid, unreliable measures are used, and data is examined at superficial levels. In this session, we’ll look at research-based measures and the data that come from them. We’ll connect these data to specific instructional methods to improve the literacy outcomes for all students.
