The Texas GT State Plan requires administrators and counselors who have authority for program decisions to have a minimum of six hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students and program options for gifted/talented students. (19 TAC §89.2(4))
In this course, you will learn about the nature of gifted students, identification measures to find the gifted, and program options that meet their needs. You will also learn what is required by Texas law for gifted students and what best identification and program practices should be followed. The objectives will be met through online research and examination of district information and practices. This course is aligned to the Texas State Plan for the Education of the Gifted/Talented Students and meets Texas state requirements for 6-hour G/T administrator and counselor training.
THIS TRAINING IS BASED ON THE CURRENT STATE PLAN, AND DOES NOT REFLECT CHANGES THAT WILL BE MADE TO THE NEW STATE PLAN THAT BEGINS IN AUGUST.
