First Year Teacher Academy
Day 5: Being a Professional Educator



The purpose of this academy is to provide new teachers with the resources and support they need in order to enjoy a successful teaching career.  This workshop will use the Heart of Teaching Series with Lead4ward for helping new teachers succeed.  At the end of this Academy, teachers will: 1- be able to utilize the lesson cycle to plan effective lessons, 2- be able to use instructional technology to improve teaching and assessment, 3- be open and active learners through professional development, 4- develop an effective mission statement, and 5- become a reflective practitioner.

Important Session Information:


In this final installment of the First Year Teachers Academy, participants will explore what they've learned this first year. They will work towards creating a plan for the future:

  • goals for their own professional development
  • skills they intend to improve upon in their own profession
  • activities/strategies that have made their own teaching successful in the classroom

Teachers will conclude this academy by completing thier Mission and Vision Statements in the hopes that it will guide them towards future success.
