The Flute Toolbox
Building Strong Players from the Foundation Up

Band Clinic

Important Session Information:

Region 17 ESC teams up with Tarpley Music to bring in flute specialist, Elizabeth Johnson.  Mrs. Johnson has had several award winning programs under her direction and has assisted individual students to become All-State band members through her private lessons.

This clinic will discuss teaching techniques for the flute through the different stages of a student's development: beginning, middle school, high school. During the "beginner" section of the class we will focus on posture, sound production, technique and vibrato with tips on how to incorporate these elements in a multi-instrument beginning band setting. The "middle school" and "high school" section of the class will focus on how to encourage individual growth (vibrato, articulation, etc) in a band setting, red flags for flute in music on the contest list, solos and ensembles on the PML and next year's etudes for the ATSSB audition.

Participants are encouraged to bring a flute to use during this clinic.

There is no fee for band directors of Region 17 ESC districts who are part of the Curriculum Contract.  If you are unsure of your district's enrollment, please contact Debbie Trigo at dtrigo@esc17.net.
