West Texas Foster Care Consortium



Educators, school counselors, community based professionals Child Placing Agencies, CASA, and CPS will come together for the West Texas Foster Care Consortium's Spring meeting. Information on transition services and supports available to foster care students and foster alumni will be shared by PAL workers, Melissa Luman and Phil Crowder with the Department of Family and Protective Services. Brandi Purswell, with the federal ETV- Education Training Voucher Program, will present information on how foster care students and alumni can access funds through the federal ETV program. PAL workers will share how students can utilize available financial resources and supports such as the Tuition and Fee Waiver Letter, After Care Services, FASFA, as well as the ETV programs for students currently in high school and at the post-secondary level. A small panel of foster care alumni will be present to share their school experiences at the high school and postsecondary level. 


The West Texas Consortium is designed to provide information for audiences such as public school, College and University Foster Care Liaisons, School Counselors, At Risk Coordinators, Administrators, CASA, Child Placing Agencies, DFPS staff, Community Agencies, and Foster and Adoptive Parents.
