Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This training gives educators and support staff the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to students who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is a TEA recommended best practice training and will help you develop a safe, supportive, and positive school climate by increasing your knowledge in early mental health, substance use, and suicide prevention and intervention.
First Aiders will complete a self-paced virtual module, and then participate in a 3.5 hour, Instructor-led class.
