Giftedness traditionally has been defined as achievement or
potential for achievement, and we differentiate our classrooms accordingly;
however, there are distinguishing characteristics across the gifted spectrum
that sometimes impede student learning.
Gifted students with asynchronous development, heightened intensities,
overexcitabilities, and varying social and emotional temperaments often have
their expectations lumped together as a group. This leads to frustration in the
student, teacher, and parent.
In this session will look at understanding the personalities
of gifted students so we can improve their learning and socialization and
discuss ways to support, motivate, and respond to gifted students.
