Questioning the Text to Understand
Reading Language Arts



Participants will use a method of questioning to help students gain deeper understandings of sources: texts, video clips, audio clips, etc.

Whether answering a question in a discussion, writing it down on a group poster, or typing it into the text box on STAAR, students need to know how to answer what is being asked and provide evidence.

Participants will learn to use various elements (textual and graphic elements) to answer prompts and provide evidence.  We will move from pictures to texts with graphic elements and analyze the process so that students can answer a question, provide evidence, and explain their thinking so that teachers know the student understands what they've read.
