Writing on the Science STAAR...Seriously?

Learn more about short constructed response items on the Science STAAR Redesign while improving overall writing outcomes in your science class.

Important Session Information:

Do you want to better prepare your students for short constructed response items on STAAR? Are you worried how STAAR Redesign will affect student growth? Join current classroom teacher-presenters who will share how they successfully improved writing practices and saw student growth.

We will explore other ways to incorporate writing into your science classroom through CER templates and traditional journaling in preparation for short constructed response items on the Redesigned STAAR.

By the end of the workshop, participants will receive writing templates, ready-to-use prompts and a PLC protocol used for reflection and improving outcomes in addition to creating short constructed response items aligned with current units of study.

Co-presenters: Margo Haltom and Summer Johnson, Evans MS, Lubbock ISD
