AAC Evaluating 101: From Evaluation to Submission
This three-hour class will cover the funding and evaluation process for a medically necessary speech generating device (SGD) that is being funded by Medicaid, Medicare, Tricare military insurance, and/or private insurance. The class will begin with a brief review of the role of the speech-language pathologist and outline necessary evaluation team members. It will then discuss, in depth, common funding sources, completing and writing a medically based SGD evaluation, and submitting the paperwork. The class will conclude with some tips on getting started once the speech generating device has been approved and shipped to the client.
