Literary Analysis will be the topic of the day. What do you analyze? How do you analyze? How do you teach the students to analyze?
Teachers will experience a short model lesson on Literary Analysis and then break this down into how do we use this in our daily instruction? We will address the different genres that can be analyzed: Literary Texts, Informational Texts, and Argumentative Texts. We will practice asking open-ended questions and extending those questions to add depth to students' thinking and answers.
Teachers will leave with a plan of how to create questions based on texts, a structure to teach students (as well as one that helps look for the correct answer), and how to model the thinking, the answering, and the writing of answers.
