Reading Language Arts: Instruction Guided by the TEKS
Understanding the TEKS, the STAAR, and Instruction

Reading and Writing Instruction that is TEKS Aligned.

Important Session Information:

Effective instruction starts with the TEKS. The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.  The STAAR assesses how well our students have mastered the knowledge and the skills we taught.  Planning and instruction is the bridge between the two that every teacher must master in the classroom.

In this workshop, teachers will be taken through a mock lesson, break it down into its components, discuss and understand how one teacher (your presenter) created the instruction, the resources, the activities, even the formative questions based on the tools found within the TEKS Resource System.

Educators will leave with an understanding of how to plan a unit's worth of instruction using the tools given them in the TEKS Resource System.
