How do we grow proficient readers? By targeting the strands that are woven into skilled reading!
The focus of this workshop will be on the Comprehension Strand of the Reading Language Arts TEKS and the Language Comprehension Strands of the Reading Rope.
Teachers will participate in reading and writing strategies that help students understand the texts they read at a deeper level, including:
- Establishing purposes for reading
- Generating questions about texts
- Making, correcting, and predictions using text features
- Making Inferences using text evidence
- Evaluating details
- Synthesizing information
