IDEA-Aligned Evidence-based Assessment
presented by Elena Plante, Ph.D

The IDEA contains specific wording concerning assessments for children with a suspected or known handicapping condition. This workshop will provide information about the wording contained in the IDEA that dictates the nature and breadth of assessment practices in the schools.  This will include linking the requirements of the IDEA to the purposes for which assessments are given and then to the evidence necessary to support these purposes.  This will include the purpose of identifying speech-language disorders and the separate purpose of identifying educational need.  The workshop will include hands-on activities designed to help clinicians become confident in identifying the information needed in test manuals to comply with the wording of the IDEA.
