The Flipsides of Reading and Writing
(4-5) Using What We Read to Guide How We Write



Guiding a students to use his/her insights of reading to provide insights into their writing.

Important Session Information:


In this very hands-on workshop, 4th and 5th Grade Teachers will be taken through the experience of reading from multiple sources and turn those newly found insights into skills that impact writing.  We'll be looking at several example lessons, breaking them down for personalized use, and discussing what this process means for our teaching and our students' learning. 

Finally, we can help students make a connection between the reading strategies we teach and the writing skills they so desperately need. Reading Strategies to be addressed:

  • Determining Importance
  • Visualizing
  • Making Connections
