School Finance Symposium
This workshop is for members of the School Finance Contract

As you close out 2020-21 school year and prepare for 2021-22, ESC17 once again is bringing you the School Finance Symposium. The symposium will be held in-person at ESC 17 on August 3rd. Omar Garcia will once again be presenting his latest template. He will highlight the impact of Hold Harmless ADA funding and how to get accurate results based on your district attendance for 2020-21. At this time we cannot confirm whether Omar will be in Lubbock or will have to present remotely. This will depend on his companies policies regarding COVID and HB3 to ensure you get the most accurate results from using his state funding template.

We will also have a legislative update presentation at the symposium. Those arrangements are still being finalized, so we will provide updates once all arrangements have been confirmed. The symposium will also include a review of the latest Truth-in-Taxation forms as published by the State Comptroller. Carol Voit with ESC17 will review the information and worksheets that districts must follow when adopting budgets and tax rates. This will assist August 31 year ends who will be posting budget and tax hearing notices not long after the event. ESC17 will also cover other hot topics of interest to school business operations. This will be a great opportunity to hear speakers known across the state without having to travel a great distance or incur significant travel expenses. The event will include a catered lunch.
