But I'm Not a Reading Teacher



Are you asked to integrate and support literacy in your CTE courses but not sure how? Then this is the workshop for you! Participants will learn high evidence-based instructional strategies, emphasizing literacy, active student learning, and applicable to all CTE program areas represented during the training. Teachers will be supported with lesson design and implementation on day two.

Key points during the workshop to support the development of leaders as instructional supports include:

  • 4 components of language development
  • Creating cyclical approaches to technical vocabulary
  • Text complexity and literacy gains with Tier I instruction
  • Hattie’s top 10 high evidence-based instructional methods
  • Differentiation—equitable instructional approaches
  • Productive struggle and productive talk
  • High-order questioning and students as generators of questions
  • Data use; data-informed instruction
  • Formative to summative alignment
  • Specific instructional strategies to address significant reading gaps in one classroom
