Once more we are planning a day with two state funding experts presenting on funding under House Bill 3. This year with the advent of COVID-19, we will also be discussing the impact this has had on state funding, federal stimulus funds, and business operations. We are pleased to announce Omar Garcia will once again be here to present on his financial state aid calculation template. He will highlight information that impacts results so you can ensure you get the best results possible when using his template. This year Amanda Brownson, TASBO Associate Executive Director of Policy and Research, will also be a featured speaker. Amanda will focus on funding issues and many items affecting districts since the COVID-19 closures. Carol Voit will review Truth in Taxation information and worksheets to assist districts with August 31 year ends who will be posting budget and tax hearing notices not long after the event. ESC17 staff will also review the collections (new and old) required for state funding to ensure districts are prepared to submit data timely to TEA. We will also target other topics of interest to highlight for further discussion.
This is a great opportunity to hear speakers known across the state without having to travel a great distance or incur significant travel expenses. We hope ESC17 will be open by the time of the event, but if circumstances do not allow a live event or presentation, ESC17 is making accommodations to move seamlessly to a full or partial Zoom online event. The event will include a catered lunch as long as we are able to hold the event onsite.
You will not want to miss this event! Register today and add the school finance symposium to your calendar for July 29th!
