Evidence-Based Practices for Students with Significant Cognitive Delays
Statewide Rubric to Promote Quality Instruction for Students with Complex Needs



This session provides training on the Rubric:  Evidence-Based Practices for Students with Significant Cognitive Delays, for teachers who serve students who have complex needs.  The Rubric was developed to promote quality instruction consistently throughout the State of Texas for students with complex needs.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EBP RUBRIC SESSION IS NOW VIRTUAL ONLY!

This session presents the Rubric:  Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) for Students with Significant Cognitive Delays that was created by the Texas Complex Needs Network (TxCAN), and approved by TEA, to promote quality instruction consistently throughout the State of Texas.  Participants will learn the best evidence-based practices for serving students with complex needs.  The desired outcome is to improve programs and services for individuals with special needs by reflecting on current practices in light of best practices.  
The Rubric is organized in the following categories:
   I.   Alignment with State Standards
   II.  Effective Teams
   III. Classroom Climate
   IV. Active Learning
   V.  Social Communication
