Texas Middle School Fluency Assessment (TMSFA)
Identifying Gaps in the Reading Abilities of 6th-8th Graders

How do you help middle school students who still struggle with reading comprehension and are not successful on STAAR? This workshop will instruct teachers how to screen students to discover weaknesses in reading ability and strategies that can be used to help grow these students' reading skills.

Teachers of 6th, 7th and 8th graders will learn:

*How to administer the Texas Middle School Fluency Assessment

*How to interpret the data collected

*How to implement appropriate interventions based on that data.

Districts are required to administer diagnostic assessment for students in grade 7 who did not demonstrate reading proficiency on the grade 6 STAAR Reading, and TMSFA is a tool that can be used to meet the requirement.

Important Session Information:

This session will focus on administering the screener and interpreting the data in order to plan for next steps.
