New to MAP Growth? Need a refresher on the basics? This session is a high-level introduction that includes discussion of the RIT measurement scale, test design, and a brief look into available reports.

Linking MAP Growth, STAAR, and Goal Setting for Student Success
During this session, we will review the key elements of the Texas linking study and consider how the data can be used to determine STAAR proficiency and inform instructional decisions. Attendees will spend time reviewing their class and student reports that provide data from the linking study. Who are the Stickers, Sliders and Gainers in your class? Groups will discuss strategies for using the Learning Continuum and student goal setting to grow students to the next level. The session will conclude with a demonstration of NWEA’s College Explorer online tool, which can engage students in setting academic goals to fulfill future aspirations.
Learning Outcomes:
- Use the linking study to determine if a student is on track for STAAR and determine the probability of a student achieving level 3 STAAR proficiency
- Identify MAP Growth reports that use data from the linking study
- Understand how to use the Learning Continuum to provide focused instruction on high impact TEKS
- Understand how to use the Student Profile to set stretch goals for students
- Experience the College Explorer as an online tool for student goal setting conversations
