The General Curriculum must be made accessible for all students, including all students with disabilities. It is not an option; it is the law. The STAAR Alt 2 Resources webpage on TEA's website has given Teachers the support needed for instructional planning to meet this requirement for students with complex access needs (low incidence disabilities). Participants at this workshop will learn the step-by-step process by using the STAAR Alt 2 Resources provided by TEA.
This session will cover the layout of the TEKS Vertical Alignments (birth to EOC including developmental, functional, and academic alignments), the Essence Statements of the TEKS, the Prerequisite Skills of the TEKS, and more. And we won't stop there. At this session, participants will also learn how to use these Resources to identify functioning levels for students of all ages/grade levels, to select IEP goals and objectives, to plan for instruction (that need you to add activities and materials), to document and complete progress reports, and to move forward once progress has been made.
