LETRS: Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling
4 Days of Understanding Modules 1-3: Understanding Why Students Struggle to Read, Phonology, and Understanding the English Spelling System

LETRS is designed to enrich and extend, but not to replace, program specific professional development for teachers of reading and language arts.  Teaching reading is complex and demanding and the LETRS modules have been developed through the latest of Reading Research.  LETRS is designed to help students who struggle learning the basic skills behind reading and writing.

Important Session Information:

LETRS® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) is a comprehensive, highly effective, research-based professional development program that responds to the need for high-quality literacy educators at all levels. Developed by Louisa C. Moats, EdD, LETRS provides the deep foundational knowledge necessary to understand how students learn to read, write, and spell—and why some of them struggle. LETRS prepares educators for the challenging work of teaching literacy by connecting research to practice.

The FOUR days of training will be required to receive credit.  Each of the 4 days will walk through Modules 1-3.

LETRS Module 1:  The Challenge of Learning to Read
