Planning for Fine Arts
From Music Basics to Pro-Level Habits

Band directors/teachers will be given instruction and opportunities for discussion.

Important Session Information:

This in-service workshop shows teachers how to accomplish the following instructional goals:

• Train the brains of first year music students to function like brains of professional musicians.

• Extend that brain development process into middle and high school ensemble performance practices.

• Use professional habits of mind to attain effortless tuning and tone production.

• Transition effortless ensemble playing into solo playing, thereby empowering every student to self-teach.

• Enable students to play even the most ponderous instruments with facility and delicate technique.

These instructional goals grew from the creation of RhythmBee material and its use in schools. That material is used in making this philosophy clear to attendees, but the workshops are never sales-oriented. If attendees wish to know how to acquire the products they see, they have to ask outside of the workshop session. Participating teachers will experience the development of these habits of mind within their own performance practices through their involvement in the activities of the workshop.
