This is a 4-hour workshop with the potential to gain another two hours upon completion of tasks completed at home campus.


Important Session Information:


Upon entering college courses, many students are unfamiliar with appropriate lab safety practices. This workshop will provide teachers with the knowledge and activities to teach your students safety that should accompany their science education. Topics will include how to dress for success in the lab, proper glove removal, sharps usage and security, assessing your fume hood’s functionality, spill cleanup and proper disinfection and more! Safe science is good science.

Each attendee will receive a spill kit for their classroom and the opportunity to sign up for Texas Tech Environmental Health & Safety personnel to evaluate their fume hood for proper air flow functioning.

Activities: Proper glove removal Spill Clean Up Proper disinfection and hand washing Sharps usage and security Knowing when to work in a fume hood
