Focusing on the Concert Band



Band directors/teachers will be given instruction and opportunities for discussion. 


Important Session Information:


This Band Clinic, hosted by Mr. Matt Knight at Abernathy High School, will have two parts to it.  The first will be a General Session followed by breakout sessions to choose from. 

1st part:

  • "General Session: 'Focusing On The Concert Band: How To Achieve Superior Assessment"

2nd part:

(This part will be a 'breakout' session where directors can split up and attend a more specific clinic with the three clinicians.)

  • June Bearden Session: "The Sight-Reading Process: Preparing Your Band For The Best Outcome In Sight-Reading"
  • Keith Bearden Session: "The Adjudication Rubric: Understanding The UIL Rubric From A Judges Point-Of View"
  • John Gibson Session: "Rehearsal Classroom Management: Getting The Most Out Of Rehearsals In Prep For Contest"
