Every Writing Teacher knows that to be a successful writer, one needs to address the Six Traits. In this workshop, participants will address three of the six traits: Voice, Sentence Fluency, and Word Choice.
Participants will be using a number of mentor texts: articles, stories, essays, film monologues and yes, released STAAR essays. We will go through the process of reading these mentor texts for each of the three traits. We will answer the following questions:
- How did the author's voice come through in the writing?
- What made the sentence flow the way it did?
- Is word choice that important?
And...
- How can I get my students to see these traits and incorporate them into thier own writing?
Come ready to read, write, brainstorm and share!
