Be a Reading SuperSTAAR: Test Prep Series Grades 3-5
#3 STAAR Gazing



This series will be focused on preparing students in grades 3-5 for the Reading STAAR test all year.  The content, skills, and strategies will gradually build and increase in complexity to create success for all learners. Teachers should bring their reading series teacher’s edition or selected text/materials to plan instruction for an upcoming lesson aligned to the topic of the session.

1.  SuperSTAAR Summary - thematic links, main idea, and summary with literary text

2.  Connect the STAARs - providing opportunities for personal and world connections by interacting with informational text to make connections, comparisons, and form questions

3.  STAAR Gazing - thinking deeply about text in order to make inferences, generalizations, and plausible predictions
