What's All the Fuss About Phonics? The New Take on Phonics!

REPEATED SESSION - June 13th & July 23rd

Contrary to the belief, phonics does not include having students code multiple words daily or having students hunched over workbooks.  Many see phonics instruction as old-fashioned or outdated, but the shift comes in HOW we’re teaching phonics.  Phonics is an important step on the road to literacy and it should be engaging and interactive. In this session, participants will learn the difference between phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, and phonics.  They will also understand how to deliver a phonics routine that requires active participation from all students.
