The Texas GT State Plan requires administrators and counselors who have authority for program decisions to have a minimum of six hours of professional development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students and program options for gifted/talented students. (19 TAC §89.2(4))
In this workshop, we will explore the nature and needs of gifted students, learn about various G/T definitions, traits, aptitudes, and
behaviors used when discussing GT students and their instructional and
affective needs, and discuss options available for GT programs. We will also cover the state requirements and various procedures and instruments used for identifying GT students.
