This one day webinar, from Cook Children's Hospital, will focus on developing speech through listening for early identified and early amplified children with hearing loss. It will also focus on teaching speech to children with hearing loss with a remedial approach. The webinar will provide participants with information about speech development in children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing who utilize hearing aids and/or cochlear implants. Information on speech acoustics, typical speech development, and differences between developmental and remedial therapy will be discussed. Detailed information on hierarchies, strategies, and techniques that facilitate speech through listening will be addressed.
