“Do Not Say They Cannot Hear Us”: THGC Interdisciplinary Workshop on Teaching the Holocaust and Genocides

Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commision: Interdisciplinary Workshop on Teaching the Holocaust and Genocides

Important Session Information:

The Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission (THGC), a state agency, offers this free, one-day, live workshop to public and private school educators in social studies and/or English language arts for grades 5-12. The workshop will introduce relevant TEKS; provide an overview of vocabularies and histories; explore contemporary issues in historiography, literary/artistic representation, and pedagogical approaches; and showcase resources with Texas connections. Educators in attendance will be first to gain access to the THGC’s free, password-protected digital library of film and textual materials.

The workshop will be facilitated by J.E. Wolfson, the THGC’s Education Coordinator. A teacher holding Texas certification, he has experience teaching elementary, middle, high school, and college courses. He is completing his dissertation at the University of Texas at Dallas’s Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies, where he was the first recipient of the Belofsky Fellowship in Holocaust Studies.

Lunch will be provided
