Year-Round RLA STAAR Prep. (Elementary)
Planning Instruction for the ECR and SCR



Internalizing the details and specificity of the upcoming units' content, knowledge, and skills to impact effective instruction.

Important Session Information:


Teachers of 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade RLA will analyze the Rater's Notes of the Released 2026 STAAR.  As a team, we will dissect what makes an effective Extended Constructed Response. We will start by learning how to teach students to analyze and understand the prompt. 

We will then explore different strategies to address how to improve 

  • Introductions and Conclusions,
  • Complete Answers,
  • Using Evidence,
  • Explaining how the evidence supports the answer,
  • Expression of Ideas with purposeful word choice and sentence structure, and 
  • The overall Organization and Development of Ideas.

This session is intended to give each teacher a plan for the year that will help grow their students' writing skills one step at a time throughout the year.
