Mental Health Matters: Supporting Students with Co-Occurring Mental Health Disorders and Intellectual and Development Disabilities (IDD)



Join us for a time to discuss how mental health conditions may present differently in students with IDD, recognize early warning signs of emotional and behavioral concerns, and distinguish between behaviors related to disability and those that may indicate a mental health need. The session highlights practical, school-based strategies for creating supportive learning environments, implementing trauma-informed interventions, promoting positive behavior, and collaborating effectively with families, school mental health professionals, and community providers. Participants will leave with tools to better identify student needs, support emotional well-being, and foster academic and social success through a collaborative, student-centered approach.
