Mental Health Matters: Calm, Focused, Ready to Learn - Supporting Student Self-Regulation
Students are expected to focus, manage emotions, solve problems, and navigate challenges every day—but these skills must be taught and practiced. Self-regulation is a foundational skill that supports learning, behavior, and emotional development. In this session, educators will explore the components of self-regulation, examine how stress, trauma and emotions impact student behavior, and learn practical strategies to help students develop the skills needed to manage their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Participants will leave with tools to create supportive learning environments that foster student emotional awareness, resilience, and academic success. Participants will explore strategies for teaching and supporting self-regulation skills, creating responsive classroom environments, and helping students develop the emotional tools needed for success in school and beyond.
