Mental Health Matters: Understanding Non-Suicidal Self-Injury Through a Trauma-Informed Lens
Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) is a complex behavior that educators may encounter in school settings. Join us for an insightful exploration of non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), approached with empathy and a trauma-informed lens. This training provides an overview of NSSI, including common risk factors, warning signs, and the functions self-injury may serve for students. Participants will learn how to recognize potential indicators of NSSI, respond in a supportive and appropriate manner, and understand their role in connecting students with school-based and community resources. We will also address student safety and the importance of self-worth for students and its impact on mental well-being.
