Building Strong Foundations: Utilizing Sound Walls in K-2 Classrooms

In this professional learning session, K–2 teachers will learn how to use sound walls to strengthen students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills. Participants will explore how sound walls help students connect the sounds they hear in words to the letters they see in print, building a stronger foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics.

Teachers will:

  • Understand the purpose and benefits of sound walls
  • Learn how to set up and use a sound wall effectively in the classroom
  • Explore strategies to integrate sound walls into daily literacy instruction
  • Develop a plan for implementing sound walls in your own teaching practice.

This training is designed to be interactive, hands-on, and immediately applicable for supporting early literacy success in K–2 classrooms.
