Are you struggling with student engagement during your lessons? This session focuses on increasing student thinking, participation, and meaningful responses during reading and writing instruction. Teachers will explore how engagement directly impacts student learning and performance on TEKS-aligned instruction and STAAR assessments.
Participants will learn and practice high-impact engagement strategies, including Kagan and Lead4ward structures, that can be immediately applied within daily lessons. Using Bluebonnet Learning as a model (no prior use required), teachers will identify where engagement already exists in lessons and how to intentionally plan for student responses that promote deeper thinking.
This session also highlights connections to ELPS/TELPAS, supports for diverse learners—including strategies to improve outcomes for special education students—and alignment to TTESS expectations for effective instruction.
Teachers will leave with ready-to-use strategies, a plan for increasing student engagement in an upcoming lesson, and a clear understanding of how to move students from passive participation to active thinking.
