Serving Dually-Indentified Students

For students who are emergent bilingual and eligible for special education and related services, instruction must address both disability and second language acquisition related needs. This is achieved when educators, leaders, and support personnel effectively collaborate to ensure each dually identified student has appropriate supports for meaningful access to grade-level curriculum. What does effective collaboration look like, and why is it so important? Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on current local systems’ strengths and opportunities for growth, and plan intentional next steps.
