This professional development session is designed to bridge the connection between the Bluebonnet RLA curriculum and the Texas Reading Academies. Participants will deepen their understanding of how the research-based practices from the Reading Academies align with and enhance daily instruction within Bluebonnet.
Through this session, teachers will explore practical strategies, routines, and instructional moves that seamlessly integrate both frameworks. Emphasis will be placed on strengthening explicit instruction, phonics application, language comprehension, and writing through structured routines already embedded in Bluebonnet.
By the end of the session, educators will leave with clear, actionable approaches that “marry” the two systems—ensuring instruction is both aligned to state expectations and grounded in the science of reading, while remaining practical and sustainable for everyday classroom use.
Participants will:
-
Identify key connections between Bluebonnet RLA and Reading Academies practices
-
Apply aligned strategies for phonics, comprehension, and writing
-
Implement consistent instructional routines that support all learners
-
Leave with ready-to-use tools that make alignment simple and sustainable
