Instructional Activities: Elementary RLA-STAAR
Grades 3-5: Category 2- Writing



Addressing Elementary Instructional Practices that Align with STAAR Expectations

Important Session Information:


The Writing Category of the STAAR addresses Revision, Editing, and the Extended-Constructed Response.

Elementary RLA Teachers will:

  • Address the Writing STAAR Questions, Thinking, and Misconceptions.
  • Group SEs together to address the needs.
  • Explore and plan the process of teaching these skills.
  • Go through the process of activity (See It, Name It, Do It).
  • Practice explicit instruction with their learning partners.
  • Use process time to differentiate with their teaching partners.

This session is intended to give each teacher a plan for the year that will help grow their students' writing skills one step at a time.
